  • Design /build photo voltaic generation station under the guidelines of the Massachusetts Solar Rebate Program.
  • Design /Build Bio fuel alternative energy boiler for commercial and residential heat and domestic hot water in an “off the grid” demonstration project.
  • Project design engineer and surveyor for a 55 acre residential development in Haverhill, MA. Responsibilities included Conceptual design development, Civil Engineering design of roadways, utilities and drainage systems, Hydrology report in support of the drainage systems, Conservation Notice of Intent, site planning, cost estimating, scheduling, and site licensing/ permitting. Preparation and presentation of the project to public boards and to private individuals.
  • Fiber Optic Distribution Engineer for a US Air Force special program office (SPO) providing warfighters with common communications, computing and information capabilities together with an integrated architecture. Program includes 900+ personnel and a $3B budget to deliver vital companion Global Awareness and Global Reach applications. Delivers Joint Defense Information Infrastructure compliant technology and services assuring interoperability with service and coalition forces..
  • Civil Engineering design and construction supervision of Knowlton Street Subdivision in Haverhill Massachusetts.
  • Right of Way Manager for a National Design Build contractor. Responsible for acquisition and coordination all public, private, and institutional permits and agreements for the installation of a major telecommunications backbone cable which will run through Cambridge, Boston, Quincy, and Milton, Massachusetts..

Riverside Engineering Services, Inc. – West Newbury, MA 1985 to present

ENGINEERING MANAGER and President – Unger Riverside Engineering Services, Inc. was established by myself and a group of professional designers who collaborated to form this full service A/E consulting firm. My primary responsibilities included business development, client relations, supervision of employees, and overall quality control of all professional services that were produced. The company was focused upon providing a wide range of services including civil site planning, utility design, treatment plant design, land surveying, building design services, technical studies/reports, and construction related services. This position required a very broad knowledge of all of the engineering branches and the ability to coordinate the efforts of these different trades.

In this capacity, I brought over 700 design and consulting contracts to satisfactory completion. Contracts ranged from private land developments, through public design contracts. Most contracts involved full services from preliminary design phase through to certification of completion.


Skidmore Owings & Merrill - Boston, MA 1982 to 1984

OWNERS REPRESENTATIVE CLERK OF THE WORKS for " ONE NEWTON PLACE" of Newton, Mass. Duties included monitoring and documentation of construction activities, field inspections, evaluation of cost claims, quality control, and payments of monthly requisitions. Project Cost $ 20,000,000.00 Duration two years.

In this position; I was present on the construction work site during all working hours, attended all construction meetings, and coordinated the architectural and engineering support that was required during construction. Quality control, validity of cost claims, and monthly payment requisitions were my primary responsibilities.


Cleverdon, Varney & Pike - Boston, MA. 1979 to 1982

STRUCTURAL DESIGN ENGINEER involved primarily in general consulting services to Architects, Developers, and Investors as well as Municipal, State, Federal and Military projects throughout the Northeast Region. This position required very broad based knowledge of building codes, building materials, construction processes, and field inspection/testing procedures.

In this position, I gained the knowledge, discipline, and work ethics that are required to become a Licensed Professional Engineer.
